Worst airport: definitely O’Hare in Chicago. Changing gates, huge place that takes forever to walk, crowded, and expensive.
Best airport: Amsterdam Airport. I was there on a lay-over going to Rome. It’s a beautiful place. Lots of artwork and decorations. Food court was amazing and affordable. They have rest areas for people having long lay-over times. You can get some sleep, keep your things by you and security watches and keeps you safe. For a large facility, it was calming and comfortable.
I’m adding a category here: Interesting airport experience. Nairobi. I was coming back home after being in Kenya on a medical mission. Our flight to London was leaving close to midnight and so we all were sitting and waiting. Overhead, the speakers were playing American disco music, think the Bee Gees and Saturday Night Fever. All around us are dozens of languages being spoken, different cultures and classes of people, and we all were listening to and singing with the Bee Gees. I still laugh at the memory.
