Ponderings 2

Is there a moment where you can recall first feeling like a grown-up? I’m watching Pluto TV and saw a commercial for the old Johnny Carson show. I remember my parents watching that show after I went to bed. I would hear my parents laugh and wish I could be in on the joke.

When we moved to Evergreen, CO., I was in my mid-teens and had the bedroom downstairs with my own entrance. That helped me to feel more adult, but it was when I could watch the Johnny Carson show down in my space, and learn what made my parents laugh, that I felt like I was more than just a kid. I was older and closer to the adulthood I craved.

Funny, the things that we latch onto as markers of “adulthood”.
